Design focus: Tuile shelf by Thomas Merlin for ENO

On the occasion of Paris interior decoration and design trade show Maison & Objet (January 18-22), Mathieu Carlier, the author of two blogs on the world of design, has selected some of his favorite new objects. Today's selection is the Tuile shelf by Thomas Merlin for ENO.

ENO aims to create objects and furniture that offer poetic and functional solutions to the evolution of our daily habits and behavior. With the Tuile shelf of designer Thomas Merlin, the brand remains faithful to its philosophy and presents a product that is simple, ergonomic and very minimalist.

In keeping with the current trend of returning to nature, the Tuile shelf is made from a simple plank of wood that resists human distortion. It has been lightly reworked, cut, folded and finally given two little holes so that it can be mounted on the wall. Two small almost invisible black or white hooks on which the shelf is directly fixed are used for this very discreet mounting device.

After almost four years in different studios in Paris, Thomas Merlin set up his design agency in October 2011, in France, in the Drome region, with the intention of creating products that combine craftsmanship and industry.

Mathieu Carlier, the author of Déco Tendency and Le Blog des Tendances, regularly shares his insight and discoveries from the world of design and decoration on the web.
