Fatboy presents new modular light fixtures

Launched in 2002, the makers of the celebrated oversized beanbag presented a new product called the "Candyofnie" at Paris's Maison & Objet trade show for design and interior decoration professionals.

Fatboy evokes the world of childhood with the Candyofnie lamp, making each customer a temporary designer by assembling a number of colored glass spheres in various shapes to make one's own personal lamp. With 11 colors (green, light green, grey, brown, purple, orange, pink, yellow, blue and light blue) and eight different silhouette shapes, there are more than a billion possible lamp combinations. The brand has even announced a precise number: 3,637,682,549,757,080 combinations. Prices for the Candyofnie available upon request.

In the same spirit, the "Spheremaker" model allows buyers to create their own chandeliers using various colored glass spheres. The model can be created with up to nine glass spheres. Prices upon request.

The "Transloetje" lamp was also presented at the Maison & Objet tradeshow. Made out of glass, the lamp recalls traditional bedside lamps with lamp-shades. Completely transparent, the shape of the light-bulb is the focus of the object, without consuming a lot of energy as the lamp carries a LED bulb. Equipped with a tactile switch, the lamp turns on by a simple touch of its base. Tap again to increase the intensity and brightness of the light. Prices upon request.

The Fatboy brand was launched by Finnish designer Jukka Setälä. The designer created the famous beanbag back in 1998 and began selling it in the Netherlands in 2002. It was such a success that since then, the brand has introduced a number of other products including lamps, carpets and tables.
