London Fashion Week to host Silent Cinema

The bi-annual event, which kicks off in the UK capital next month, will as usual play host to a plethora of off-runway fun. This year there will be some added cinematic kicks for the fashionistas.

After a successful summer run of outdoor movies during the 2012 London Olympics, St Martin's Courtyard in London's famous Covent Garden will be celebrating the upcoming London Fashion Week with three nights of free open air movies.

Lucky participants will get to don a pair of wireless headphones and enjoy screenings of three fashion classics: Ben Stiller comedy "Zoolander," critically acclaimed Vogue documentary "The September Issue" and Albert and David Maysles' poignant 1970s film about two reclusive socialites, "Grey Gardens."

One hundred free tickets will be given away for each night via an online application, with a few spots up for grabs at the door on a first-come-first-served basis.

Somerset House, the home of London Fashion Week, is also known for its open air cinema series, which runs during the summer in the cobblestone courtyard of the historic building. Londoners who fancy a slightly more luxurious setting can enjoy the Hot Tub Cinema, which does exactly what is says on the tin. Film fans sit in hot tubs placed on a London rooftop while films ("Anchorman" and "Grease" have been hits) are screened and drinks are served.
