NARS Guy Bourdain collection revealed

After the first glimpses were shown on Snapchat earlier this week, the cosmetics brand has finally unveiled its latest beauty collection, inspired by the French fashion photographer Guy Bourdain.

Last year NARS riffed on the aesthetic of another 20th century art star, with a holiday collection inspired by pop artist Andy Warhol. This year it's the turn of the late Guy Bourdain, one of the fashion world's most iconic lensmen.

Available from November 1, the collection features blush, eyeshadows, nail polishes and lipsticks all in colors inspired by Bourdain's richly saturated imagery.

Blush, £21.50 (approx €25), comes in red, magenta and pink; four eyeshadows are £18.00 each (approx €21) in blue, pewter, orchid, copper, and champagne; nail polishes, £14.50 (approx €17.00), each come in four shades (scarlet, fuchsia, pink, violet); and five lipsticks, £18.50 (approx €22), come in cherry, coral, rose, pink and violet.

According to Francois Nars, who founded the brand in 1994, Bourdain's influence is in the DNA of the brand: "I've long incorporated his work into our collections -- in names, colours, even inspiration for the campaign images. It was only a matter of time before I created an entire collection around him and his work."

Nars has long been inspired by the photographer, noting "his sense of colour. His madness. The way he broke so many rules. The way he saw women. The strong sexual aspect in the images."

"I love a strong woman who is comfortable being sexy and beautiful, and he celebrated that in his images," he added.

Earlier this week the collection made its debut via the image-sharing service Snapchat; NARS sent out brief messages to fans containing images of the products which automatically deleted after they'd been seen.
