With over 15M visits a month, Zalora to launch marketplace for sellers
E-commerce store Zalora will launch its marketplace for independent fashion designers and sellers in the first half of this year
Independent fashion designers and sellers now have the opportunity to sell to the same customers who buy goods off Zalora, a Rocket Internet-backed fashion e-commerce store, with the upcoming Zalora marketplace. The platform will be launched in the first half of 2014.
Claiming to have over 15 million visits a month, Zalora will allow vendors from both, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to create virtual storefronts within the site. The storefront will be run and maintained by the independent seller, with support from a dedicated Zalora account manager.
Magnus Grimeland, Managing Director, Zalora said, “We are launching a platform where up and coming brands, boutiques or designers can sell their products alongside our internationally renowned brands, to an already highly established and loyal customer base.”
The first 100 signups will receive a free consultation with one of Zalora’s strategic marketplace advisors.
The two-year-old company has localised sites in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Brunei. It also offers over 500 international and local brands, with more than 15,000 products spread across categories for both, males and females.

At the moment, Zalora has set up a Fashion Scout force which will search and recruit potential brands and designers to come on board for the launch. Grimeland added, “We are really looking forward to working with them (independent sellers), nurturing them at this stage of the journey and seeing how far their business can expand through our marketplace.”
The marketplace is currently open to applications from potential sellers.
