Samuel L. Jackson, India Eisley team up in 'Kite' trailer

Starring Samuel L. Jackson alongside rising stars India Eisley and Callan McAuliffe, the debut trailer for "Kite" extols its own virtues as a stylized, brutal revenge story.

Twenty-year-old Eisley appeared in TV series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and Kate Beckinsale's action flick "Underworld: Awakening" and here fills the role of orphan girl Sawa, a vengeful assassin whose provocative dress lets her get close to her marks.

Jackson plays Karl Aker, a corrupt cop who knew Sawa's father when they worked together in the police force and takes it upon himself to become Sawa's stand-in guardian; McAuliffe, of "The Great Gatsby" and "I Am Number Four," is Oburi, a young man who seems to know more about the killer of Sawa's parents than anyone else.

"I've always been a huge fan of this material, 'Kite.' I've watched the [original Yasuomi Umetsu-directed 1998 animated Japanese] film, I've read the graphic novel -- I've been over this for a lot of years," explained Jackson, introducing the official trailer.

"I really hope that all of you who are familiar with it will be pleased with what we did. Those of you who don't know what this material is about, you'll be surprised and happy at what you see."

A longer seven-minute extract lends wider context to the relationship between Sawa, Oburi and Aker, fleshing out the scenes that populate its shorter debut trailer.
