Toronto police have arrested one man and are still searching for another in connection with a fatal shooting in the city's Oakwood Village neighbourhood earlier this month.

In a news release, police said a 20-year-old man from Toronto was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder Thursday.

They say they're still looking for a 28-year-old man from Toronto, who's wanted for the same offences.

Police have identified Trevor Dalton John, 31, as the victim of the shooting. John died in hospital after being shot outside a residential building around 1 a.m. on May 7 on Winona Drive near Vaughan Road.

A woman was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and survived, they say.

According to his family, John worked as a security guard and had started his own security company. He had plans to expand the business this year, because of his "passion for ensuring safety and protection for others," they said.

John leaves behind two sons, aged eight and 12, as well as his parents, step-parents, brothers and step-sisters, his family said.
