Police say one person has died after two vehicles crashed and caught fire east of Hawkesbury, Ont., Tuesday afternoon.

In an email, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) spokesperson Bill Dickson said the crash happened just before 5 p.m. on County Road 17 between Tupper Street and Golf Club Road.

Both vehicles caught fire and one person was pronounced dead at the scene, Dickson said.

In a news release issued Wednesday, OPP said two other passengers were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
