101 Studios Ups James Allen To Head Scripted Films & TV, James Gold To SVP, European Operations

EXCLUSIVE: 101 Studios has promoted EVP of Production and Development, James Allen, to Head of Scripted Films & Television Programming. The company also upped James Gold to SVP European Operations. From 101’s Beverly Hills headquarters, Allen will oversee and manage deals for scripted television shows, films, and development. He will continue to report to CEO David Glasser, COO David Hutkin and CFO Michele Newman.

“I have worked with James and James for 13 years and I am delighted to elevate their positions,” Glasser said. “They are both integral members of our 101 team’s continued expansion. “David Hutkin, Michele Newman and I are thrilled with all this team has accomplished and we can’t wait to see what the future brings.”

Before coming to 101 Studios in 2018, Mr. Allen served as the Vice-President of Acquisitions & Production at The Weinstein Company where he worked on films that included The Imitation Game, It Follows, Waco, The Founder and Wind River.

“I’ve been blessed to work with some of the most talented executives and filmmakers in the business and could not be prouder of what we’ve built at 101 Studios,” Allen said. “While the business is ever evolving across film and television, audiences desire for powerful and immersive storytelling has never wavered. Since the launch of 101 Studios, Allen and Gold have been a key part of the 101 team and the studios’ success on both a domestic and international front; contributing to the development of shows Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, 1883, George & Tammy, Tulsa King, Waco: The Aftermath and 1923. The two executives have also contributed to the studio’s film portfolio with feature films such as The Current War, Burden and The War With Grandpa.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside David, David, Michele, James and the entire 101 Studios family, and to have been a part of this company’s incredible journey since its inception,” Gold said. “The creative opportunities and partnerships with which we have been afforded have made each day nothing short of thrilling and rewarding in equal measure. Prior to 101, Gold was Vice-President of Acquisitions & Productions for The Weinstein Company in London where he worked on Wind River, Lion, The Imitation Game, Philomena, War & Peace, Gomorrah and Julian Fellowes Presents Doctor Thorne.
