11 National Enquirer Covers That Shilled for Donald Trump (Photos)

1. The National Enquirer‘s latest headline proclaims: “Trump Catches White House Spy!

Those who pick up a copy at the supermarket checkout line may be surprised to read that the Russian White House mole is Trump’s former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn.

The story argues that the “unfolding Russian spy drama will overshadow the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee hearing investigating alleged ties between Trump’s campaign and Putin.”

2. Even though FBI director James Comey insisted that he had “no information” to support claims that President Trump was wiretapped by Obama, the tabloid’s March 15 cover announced: “Proof that Obama Wiretapped Trump!”

The article included “bombshell interviews” that expose the “outlaw American agents still trying to sabotage the president!”

3. Even though Trump admitted in September that President Obama was in fact a U.S. citizen, the Enquirer was still claiming Obama was an illegitimate president as recently as this month. On March 10 the tabloid ran a story titled,”Barack Obama Kenyan Birth Certificate — Exposed

According to the report, “Obama’s half-brother has released what he claims to be the former President’s real birth certificate — and it says Barack was born in Kenya!”

4. Right after President Trump’s first address to the joint session of Congress last month, the Enquirer ran a “world exclusive” headlined, “Donald Trump: ‘How I’m Cleaning Up Obama’s Mess.’

The hard-hitting piece said “top sources have revealed how Trump developed his uncompromising vision to undo the damage done by Barack Obama on both the world stage and to the American marketplace!”

5. On March 6, the Enquirer offered the headline, “Barack Obama: Secret Wiretaps ‘Worse Than Watergate.'”

The article said “Trump blasted Barack Obama for using Federal agencies to tap the phones at his Trump Towers headquarters during the 2016 election.” A “bombshell investigation,” however, has “exposed more Obama dirty tricks that veteran consultant Roger Stone calls ‘worse than Watergate!'”

The FBI is investigating whether Stone colluded with the Russians.

6. After David Letterman gave an interview to New York Magazine earlier this month, blasting Trump, the Enquirer said the “caustic” comedian “hasn’t given up the political edge that some critics said helped sink ‘The Late Show’ in the ratings!”

7. After Flynn was forced to resign following reports that he lied about conversations with Russian officials, the Enquirer ran an article titled, “Obama’s Plot to Impeach Donald Trump.” The story quoted a “left-leaning whistleblower” who claimed that “the attack on Flynn is just the start of a plot that’s being masterminded by Barack Obama.”

8. While some news outlets looked into the possibility of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, the Enquirer had a positive spin: “Trump-Putin Summit: Secret of Their Historic Meeting.”

The tabloid reported that Trump and the Russian president were scheduled to hold a “secret summit” described as a “global alliance.”

9. On January 27, the Enquirer ran a story titled: “President Trump: More Plans for the First 100 Days.” It promised that just getting started with ‘draining the swamp’ of Washington, D.C. corruption!”

10. On November 23, just two weeks after the election, an Enquirer cover proclaimed, “Trump Must Build a Wall.” The tabloid reached its “indisputable conclusion” after a “bombshell” investigation proved “how illegal immigrants working for drug cartels are flooding into America at a horrific rate!”
