13 arrested for suspected sexual services offered in Yishun, Kovan and Sembawang

Twelve women and a man were arrested by the Singapore Police Force under the Women’s Charter for their alleged involvement in sexual services offered in Yishun, Kovan and Sembawang.

According to a police statement on Thursday (7 Sept), preliminary investigations revealed that the women were believed to be advertising sexual services via websites. The man arrested is suspected to have assisted in managing the vice activities from one of the five residential units from which they were allegedly operating.

The 13 suspects, aged from 23 to 46, were arrested last month. Police officers seized $1,560 in cash, mobile phones and other related documents. Investigations will also be carried out against the home owners.

Any person who commits the offence of being the tenant, lessee or occupier, or person-in-charge of a brothel and the offence of keeping, managing or assisting in the management of a brothel are liable to a fine of $10,000, or imprisonment of up to five years, or both.

In addition, any person who commits the offence of knowingly living wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person, is liable to a fine of up to $10,000, or up to five years’ imprisonment, or both.
