11 seafood buffets in Singapore that would be shellfish of us not to share

I adore seafood, so I’m constantly searching for an exceptional seafood buffet. In my opinion, any restaurant offering a diverse selection of fresh seafood for under S$120 is definitely worth exploring.

Here are 11 seafood buffet restaurants that I highly recommend checking out next time you’re craving seafood!

1. The Astor Grill

The Astor Grill at The St. Regis Singapore may be renowned for steak par excellence but it’s showing the world that it wears many (chef’s) hats. Indulge in the ultimate seafood extravaganza at their exclusive Wonders of the Sea seafood dinner buffet. If you have been impressed by their landbound fare, this globally sourced top-tier seafood buffet is a culinary delight worthy of discovery.

It brings to your plate an impressive array of marine delicacies, including Alaskan King Crab from the pristine waters of Alaska, succulent Boston Lobster flown in from Canada, and plump Poached Prawns from the vibrant Indo-Pacific Ocean. Each selection is meticulously chosen for its premium taste and quality.

Guests can relish diverse flavours from the zesty kick of Thai Chili Sauce to the luxurious richness of Taramasalata Caviar Sauce to the delicate tanginess of Aurora Sauce. Each is made in-house so it complements the seafood perfectly.

For those craving the charred goodness of grilled seafood, the parrilla grill with Vulcan stones and charcoal infuses each dish with a distinctive flavour profile, creating a culinary experience unlike any other.

To elevate the evening, indulge in a glass of champagne or wine, perfectly paired to enhance the subtleties of the seafood selections. One wine is served at the start while the second, a refreshing white wine, accompanies the Chef’s catch of the day.

A feast for the eyes and palate, the Chef’s selection of the fish course and decadent desserts are both served in full portions. The catch of the day during our visit was Halibut, and it was incredibly tender and bursting with flavour… absolutely superb!

Set against an opulent backdrop, The Astor Grill’s Wednesday seafood buffet offers an exclusive opportunity to savour the ocean’s bounty in an upscale ambiance. Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or seeking an alternative to steak-centric fare, it’s a culinary experience not to be missed.

This deletable dive beneath the waves is available exclusively on Wednesday for dinner from 6.30pm at The Astor Grill.

The Seafood Showcase Experience (S$98++) is an experience unto itself. Pair it with flowing house wine (3 hours; 6.30-9.30pm) (S$128++) or with flowing champagne (3 hours; 6.30-9.30pm) (S$158++).

2. Colony at Ritz Carlton

colony - entrance and seating

Enter into the majestic dining hall Colony and feast your eyes (and tummy) on the most abundant seafood options available; it is indeed an experience like no other when dining in this grandeur!

Only available every Friday and Saturday, the assortment of seafood is simply unmatched. With long queues constantly forming at The Ice Bar, hungry diners impatiently await their turn to grab Freshly Shucked Oysters and Snow Crabs

The large and towering Snow Crab Legs may look intimidating upon first look but rest assured, the sweet and succulent meat encased within is bound to keep you going back for more.

They offer a splendid Asian menu with local favourites. A fan favourite would be the Homemade Lobster Ball featured in their signature Colony Laksa. Additionally, they do a wonderful execution of the Salted Egg Custard Bun and Har Kow under The Steam Basket category.

Do not leave without a taste of their Grilled Boston Lobster or Octopus Carpaccio; priced at S$112 per individual, this is one place you’ll want to bring a date to!

3. The Kitchen Table

the kitchen table - seating

Seeking a seafood buffet for a Saturday brunch? Look no further than The Kitchen Table located at breezy Sentosa Cove. While seafood items are also available on their other menus, they pale in comparison to the selections served on Sunday Brunchscape from 12pm to 3pm.

I love the title that they have given their seafood display — The Seafood Wall — which proudly showcases Snow Crab, Lobster Tail and Lobster Claw, among others.

King crabs are not often offered on seafood buffets due to their limited quantities and high price point. An alternative to the king of seafood is none other than the Snow Crab. In comparison to king crabs, the meat found in a snow crab is no doubt lesser. However, the sweet and mellow taste still shines through.

Apart from the wide selection of seafood, the hot dishes here are equally enticing. Think Almond Wood Fire Grilled Seafood with options including prawns, squids and scallops. Otherwise, drop by the Parrilla Grill for quality cuts of Sanchoku Wagyu, Lamb T-Bone or Pork Belly

Priced at S$128 per pax, this dining experience falls just over our budget. However, with wet pool access, a magician and live DJ performance, it’s money well spent!

4. Mitsuba

mitsuba - entrance

Located strategically near the CBD,  Mitsuba offers a soothing ambiance and the exquisite Mitsuba’s Premium Buffet. As one who believes that a restaurant visit should satisfy both my eyes and tummy, this is one place I would bring a date to. With glass windows and wooden interior furnishing, it resembles a cosy yet sleek Japanese-style tavern.

If you are looking for a wider range of Japanese seafood creations, I would recommend going for Premium Buffet which includes all items from the regular Buffet menu. The buffet selection is curated for those who love fresh seafood and juicy steaks.

Premium items — which I am drawn to against my will —  consist of Raw Oysters, Crayfish, Foie Gras, Wagyu Steak and Lobster Bisque. Yes, please! Personally, I can see myself going back for multiple servings of those Scallop Sashimi and Wagyu Steak slices.

Apart from the Signature Thick-cut Sashimi slices, immerse yourselves in the huge range of Japanese food items. The list just goes on and on— think sushi, hand rolls, grilled and deep fried dishes, and hot griddle items.

I can never leave a buffet without a portion of carbohydrates. Points taken, do not leave without trying their Mentaiko Spaghetti listed under the Noodle category

Oh, and you will be glad to know that everything mentioned comes priced at S$99.90++ per pax, which fits the budget!

5. Royal Palm @ Orchid Country Club

royal palm - entrance

An International Halal buffet offered by Royal Palm @ Orchid Country Club tailors its menu to celebrate Singapore’s local delights. Dine within the ambiance found in Orchid Country Club with elegant architecture revolving around modern and exotic elements. Those with ambitions to try out golfing should use this opportunity to reward their efforts with a buffet dinner.

Many guests head straight for The Seafood Corner here. The most exciting dish would no doubt be the iconic Singapore Chili Crab. With every portion of savoury and spicy crab pieces you take, you must throw in some Fried Mantou buns. There is simply no better vessel to soak up all that slurp-worthy gravy!

If you cannot deduce by now, I am a major shellfish lover. Other seafood options that piqued my interest include the Sambal Lala, Stir Fried Tom Yum Prawn and Salmon Fish Head Curry. The combination of spice and seafood simply amplifies the sweet and juicy seafood flesh.

There is an ongoing promotion — 1 for 1 Weekend Dinner Buffet — currently priced at  S$84.95++ per pax. Do note that this menu is only available from Fridays to Sundays, the eve of public holidays and on public holidays itself.

6. The Line

the line - seating

The Line is loved by many for its fresh Seafood Ice on Bar offerings, duh. Buffet goers will undeniably help themselves to unlimited servings of their raw seafood options. I must highlight the fan favourites that include Boston Lobster and Half Shell Scallop

the line - food

At any mention of scallops, I implore all diners to try the Hokkaido Scallop sashimi. The thick fillet served melts in your mouth. I could pop these into my mouth without any thought!

As one who prefers my oysters freshly shucked, I was even sold by the Baked Oyster Mornay under the Western Mains. Encased within the oyster shell, the plump meat is enveloped with a luscious cheese sauce and baked until creamy.

Do note that no raw oysters were listed in the online menu.

To keep things exclusive, only 1 day is reserved for their Seafood Extravaganza buffet: Thursdays. At S$108 per pax, the wide range of international selections and crafty twists in their menu make it worth the visit.

7. Ma La Kong Jian (Authentic Sichuan Hot Pot)

mala kong jian - entrance

Open until 3am in the early morning (or night), Ma La Kong Jian offers authentic Sichuan mala hotpot — buffet style — with a slew of quality seafood ingredients. Plus point, this wide range of seafood options is available daily!

In every hot pot experience, I always require one soup base to be spicy, numbing or both. Naturally, there is nothing more apt to fit the requirements than Mala. The throat-cutting spice and tongue-numbing sensations attained as a result of Sichuan peppercorn and chilli creates an addictive flavour.

Besides the usual hotpot must-haves such as thinly sliced Beef or Pork Belly platters and minced Prawn Paste, a Live Mud Crab is served to every diner.

Other seafood options that may be thrown in your boiling mala broth include large Half Shell Scallops, Fresh Whole Prawns, Fish Slices, Clams, Lala, Giant Fish Head and Squid. The best part? Each diner only pays S$29.80 each (not including soup base) for the unlimited hotpot meal.

8. Tung Lok Seafood

If you are a sucker for Chinese flavours served with superb seafood quality, look no further than Tung Lok Seafood. Do note that each outlet offers a slightly different menu for their À La Carte Seafood Buffet, so do check out their website for more information before making the reservation.

Using the À La Carte Seafood Deluxe Dinner Buffet offered in their Orchard Central outlet as a guide, diners can look forward to their Special Selection. Start off with their famed Chilli Crab (served with mantou) before moving on to their Sautéed Scallop, French Beans with Capsicums and more.

A particular item that grasped my attention was the Deep-fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk and Yam Strips. Just imagine dipping tender and fleshy prawns into a savoury and creamy gravy, oof. Do note that only 1 serving per table is permitted for items under this category

Nonetheless, at S$59.80 per pax, I am certain that you will be stuffed after eating through the list!

9. RISE

Head to Rise for seafood nights with their daily Dinner Buffet. Otherwise, come on weekends to indulge in their Weekend Lunch Buffet, albeit with a smaller seafood selection.

In both seatings, prawns, clams, mussels and scallops are available. However, Australian Yabbies are only on the menu for the Dinner seating.

In the same Dinner Menu, you get country-based food items categorised into Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Each country’s selection includes seafood dishes flavoured with spices from the respective country.

Eat through the spread of cuisines across the world, starting with Singapore. There is no famous local delight as visually striking as the Singapore Chilli Crab. After indulging in the sweet and spicy flavoured crustacean, grab servings of Australian Wagyu Beef Cheek Rendang

Menu items and prices are subject to change, according to the seasonality and availability of ingredients.

10. Lime Restaurant

lime - dining area

As with most other buffet options, the Weekend Buffet Dinner (S$108++ per pax) is the most popular menu on the list at Lime Restaurant. Diners usually call in weeks in advance to make reservations for a special evening.

lime - food

The freshest and most exclusive seafood items are displayed in the Seafood Assortment section. Here at Lime, Snow Crabs will only be available at their Weekend Buffet Dinner.

I was also drawn to the cooked seafood selections, especially the Lobster Pasta with Caviar Creme Sauce. Under the Asian category, a variety of seafood is offered including the Braised Crab Meat Soup. Expect a distinct seafood flavour tied in with chunks of tender crab meat incorporated within the soup base.

Don’t forget that the aromatic Wok Fried Mud Crab with Black Pepper Sauce is also available. Now, that is another spicy alternative to the chilli crab that we have already seen so many times on this list!

11. Shin Minori Japanese Restaurant

To end off this listicle, what better place to stuff oneself with premium cuts of sashimi other than popular Japanese buffet restaurant Shin Minori? Each Premium Buffet is priced at S$99.90++ per adult.

shin minori - sushi

Go crazy at their extensive list of seafood offerings that include more than 200 a la carte buffet raw food items and over 60 types of cooked dishes. Their fresh sashimi selection ranges from Salmon to Maguro and Spicy Seared Tuna to snappy Cuttlefish and delicate Sea Bream.

Cooked dishes include blow-torched Nigiri Sushi, including the visually appealing Aburi Sushi Moriwase (7 types of blow torched sushi) and fan-favourite Aburi Shake Mentai Sushi (salmon topped with blow torched mentaiko mayonnaise).

Another unique creation that I would love to try is their Nori Taco, also known as Japanese-style Taco. The hard taco shell is made with deep fried battered seaweed and filled with a myriad of seafood.

If you are like me and a sucker for plump and briny oysters, sweeten your night out with the Buffet with Oyster at S$79.90++ per pax to enjoy free-flow Japanese Oysters!

Now, all that is left to say is — Itadakimasu!
