Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Next week's Coronation Street will see Ed's gambling demons threaten to destroy the Baileys' Christmas, while Daisy resorts to desperate measures to save The Rovers.

Meanwhile, Carla realises how much Peter is struggling.

1. Ed's money problems worsen

Desperate to pay off his payday loan, Ed bets the Christmas dinner money that he received from Sarge on a horse.

Meanwhile, the Baileys learn that Aggie won't make it home for Christmas and decide to make the festive period extra special for Glory.

Ed is relieved when he receives payment from Paul and hopes to finally get Tony off his back, but when Sarge assumes the cash is for him, Ed is back at square one.

2. Ed is threatened by Tony

Ronnie treats the family to dinner at the Bistro, but when Ed pays for drinks with Ronnie's money, he's spotted by Tony. Assuming that Ed is spending his own money, Tony makes it clear he wants to be paid by tomorrow.

With the pressure mounting, Ed plots an escape and decides to spend Christmas with Aggie in Birmingham but receives a shock when Tony barges into the house.

Tony threatens to tell Aggie about Ed's gambling debts and when Ed tries to grab his phone, Tony punches him.

3. Ed is interviewed by the police

Unaware that Ed has been attacked, Michael shows Ronnie and Sarge the watch he has bought Ed for Christmas. As the family return home, they're shocked to find Ed with a cut lip and the Christmas presents missing.

Dee-Dee calls the police and Ed lies to Craig that the family have been the victim of a burglary and makes out that he forgot to lock the back door.

4. Audrey refuses to help Carla and Jenny

Jenny and Carla grow convinced that the password needed to crack open a mysterious file on Stephen's laptop could be written inside his journal – but Audrey shoots them down and refuses to hand it over to them.

Daisy urges Jenny not to give up as the file could be the key to recovering Stephen's stolen money and that she could use it to buy The Rovers back.

5. Daisy and Jenny try to save The Rovers

When Daisy discovers the Platt family together at the Bistro, she takes advantage of the situation and steals David's keys.

At Number 8, she searches for Stephen's journal just as Audrey arrives home unexpectedly.

Meanwhile, Jenny tries a different approach to secure the money and asks Carla for a loan so that she can apply for a mortgage for The Rovers.

6. Jenny makes a play for The Rovers

Jenny and Daisy attend a meeting with the bank to try and secure the loan for the pub.

Later, they break the news to Brian and Mary that the meeting was a success and that the bank has agreed to the loan.

However, Jenny's plans grind to a halt when she's informed that Waterfords have received another offer, so the decision will be made on the basis of a sealed bid.

7. Peter confides in Tim

After receiving a letter from the hospital, Peter opens up to Tim and admits that he can't stop thinking about Stephen's death.

Eager to help, Tim provides a welcome distraction and invites Peter round to Number 4 to use the hot tub and suggests he focus on the good things in life.

8. Tim gives Peter some relationship advice

When Peter reveals that his relationship with Carla is strained due to her obsession with the factory, Tim urges him not to give up on her.

Later, Peter is pleased when Carla organises a date night supper for two but their evening is ruined when Carla rushes off to deal with the factory alarm.

9. Carla is suspicious of Peter

Carla suspects Peter is up to something when he turns down her offer for lunch and later, is surprised to find Peter tidying the flat.

Carla is shocked when Peter confesses that he has organised to meet Valerie, his liver donor's mother and Carla promises to be by his side.

During his meeting with Valerie, Peter reveals that he is an alcoholic. How will she react?

10. Carla is shocked by Peter's confession

Carla offers to attend a support group meeting with Peter but is stunned when Peter reveals to the group that he has lost all interest in life and that every day feels like a chore.

Carla is upset to realise how low Peter has been feeling and plans a surprise Christmas gift in a bid to turn things around.

11. Ryan leaves with Crystal

Ryan breaks the news to Debbie that he's moving to Scotland after deciding to leave with Crystal.

Later in the week, Carla and Debbie bid farewell to Ryan. Daisy watches on, sad to see Ryan leave for Glasgow.

12. Cassie plans a Christmas gift for Evelyn

At Evelyn's suggestion, Tyrone decides to take the girls to Norfolk to see Fiz but realises that Cassie will be left on her own for Christmas. Evelyn offers an olive branch to Cassie and invites her daughter to join her at Roy's for Christmas.

To make Evelyn's Christmas extra special, Cassie comes up with the ideal gift that Roy should buy for Evelyn.

Once Roy has located the gift, Cassie offers to accompany him on the shopping trip but run into trouble when his car refuses to start.

13. Audrey chooses the salon's new boss

Sam and Lily attempt to smooth over tensions in the Platt household, but their plan quickly goes awry causing Audrey to make a further decision about the salon.

Later in the week, Audrey interviews David and Maria for the position. Audrey is impressed by Maria's vision for the salon but is frustrated when David refuses to take his interview seriously.

14. Gemma struggles without her kids

Gemma and Paul head to Victoria Garden to watch Joseph at the concert but when Paul's wheelchair breaks down on the street, they miss the whole event. At Glenda's suggestion, Joseph cheers Gemma up with an encore performance.

When Chesney arrives to collect Joseph and the quads, Gemma is gutted that they have to leave so soon.
