The 1975's Matty Healy Engaged to Model Gabbriette Bechtel

The pair were first linked last September, when they were spotted kissing on the streets of New York City

He couldn’t be more in love — the 1975 frontman Matty Healy is engaged to his model girlfriend Gabbriette Bechtel.

The two announced their engagement late Tuesday night after attending mutual friend Charli XCX's Brat show in Brooklyn, with Bechtel sharing photos of herself wearing the ring, featuring a black gem surrounded by pavé diamonds around both the stone and band.

"MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT," she captioned an image, tagging Healy's Instagram account as well. (The 1975 drummer George Daniel proposed to Charli last November.) The "Happiness" singer re-grammed her post.

Healy's mother, actress Denise Welch, confirmed the news on Loose Women Wednesday morning.

"I have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged ... They went over to see their friends Charli and George in New York and I woke up this morning to the fact they’ve put it on Instagram. Instagram official ... he's got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel — Gabbriette she's known as. Black diamond; he had it made for her," she said on the UK chat show. "I couldn't be more thrilled. We couldn't be happier — she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law. I'm thrilled."

Bechtel was first spotted wearing the ring in late May.

The British rocker, 35, and Bechtel, 26, were initially linked in September, when they were photographed kissing, hugging and holding hands in New York City. Days later, they were snapped together at an event in Brooklyn, and before long, Healy had confirmed he was in a relationship.

Bechtel and Healy had been trying to meet for four years before they finally connected, the model recently revealed to Homme Girls.

"He came to L.A. and we've been in love ever since," she told the magazine earlier this year, adding that the two often order takeout and play Fortnite in bed.

In 2019, “Boom Clap” singer Charli put together the band Nasty Cherry — and hand-picked Bechtel to join the group. The Netflix docuseries I’m with the Band: Nasty Cherry chronicled the making of the band, which petered out over the pandemic.

Bechtel, an Orange County, California native, is also known for posting food videos on her social media, and is working on a cookbook.

Healy wrapped the second leg of The 1975’s North American tour in support of the band’s critically acclaimed fifth album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language earlier in this spring, and has since begun writing for the follow-up.

Bechtel previously dated model Levi Dylan, son of Jakob and grandson of Bob Dylan, while Healy was linked to model Meredith Mickelson after his relationship with Taylor Swift ended last June.
