2 dead in apparent single-vehicle crash near Brockville
Two people are dead and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are appealing to the public for information after a single-vehicle crash north of Brockville was reported early Monday morning, hours after the collision is believed to have happened.
According to an OPP news release issued Monday evening, it remains unclear exactly what happened and when.
Shortly before 6 a.m. on Monday, the OPP's Leeds County detachment was told about a heavily damaged vehicle in a ditch.
When officers got to the scene on Kitley Elizabethtown Townline Road — a narrow road just east of County Road 29 — they found the vehicle and the bodies of two people: a 62-year-old man from Frankville and a 30-year-old woman from Brockville.
"The collision is believed to have occurred several hours before it was discovered, as the vehicle's engine was cold to the touch," according to the OPP release.
There was an on-site investigation by police. The Office of the Chief Coroner and the Office of Forensic Pathology are investigating.
The scene is about 20 kilometres northwest of Brockville and 80 kilometres south of Ottawa.
