2 Dead Bodies Found Inside Storage Facility Close to Bloodied Medieval Spear

An elderly man who witnesses say was an expert in medieval knives was one of the deceased, per reports

Authorities in California say they found a bloodied medieval-style spear near two slain bodies that were found inside a storage facility on Thursday, per reports.

Police responded to a storage facility in Santa Ana, Calif., on Thursday afternoon and found a man and woman dead and another person suffering from critical injuries, according to Santa Ana PD, KTLA, ABC 7, NBC Los Angeles and CBS News report.

Police say they are investigating the killing as a murder-suicide, per NBC Los Angeles. It wasn’t immediately clear who the suspect was.

The surviving man was rushed to the hospital, investigators said, according to KTLA, ABC 7, NBC Los Angeles. The survivor appeared to not be moving as he was being carried away on a stretcher, KTLA reports.

A bloodied medieval-style spear was found near the crime scene; video footage by ABC 7 shows several officers gathered outside the storage unit with its door slightly open and a long spear beside it.

A witness said one of the deceased people was an elderly man and the other was a younger woman, per KTLA.

He told the outlet that the elderly man was an expert in medieval swords.

Police have not released any identifying information about any of the deceased. 

The victims were both stabbed and shot, per NBC Los Angeles, but it wasn’t immediately clear if the spear was used in the stabbing.
