SINGAPORE — Two more people have died from COVID-19 complications in Singapore, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday (22 August), bringing the total death toll here to 49.

Altogether, 12 in Singapore have succumbed to COVID-19 this month.

One of them is a 91-year-old female permanent resident who died on Saturday. She had not been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease.

The woman's case was first reported on 3 August, after she had developed symptoms on 30 July and later positive for COVID-19.

She was admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.

"She had not been vaccinated against COVID-19, and had a history of chronic kidney disease, heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperparathyroidism," said the MOH.

The other fatality is an 87-year-old Singaporean man who died on Sunday. He had been partially vaccinated against COVID-19.

The man's case was first reported on 4 August. He had been conveyed to the National University Hospital for an unrelated medical condition on 4 August.

As he was symptomatic, he was tested for COVID-19 and the result came back positive.
