Creative intros two USB 2.0 webcams for video chat

Creative's WebCam Live! Ultra and WebCam Live! Ultra for notebooks feature true USB 2.0 support and a wide-angle lens for about $90 each. The wide angle lenses capture a 76-degree field of view, about 50 percent wider than the typical 52-degree webcam. The image sensor in the unit is a high-quality CCD, as compared to the CMOS sensors used in many competing webcams. These cams will work well for broadband users aiming for high-resolution video instant messaging, and are compatible with AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Windows Messenger. The regular version Creative WebCam Live! Ultra is available now in Asia with the Notebook version soon to follow; no word yet on when these might hit the States.

Taiwan warns against travel to China after execution threat
TAIPEI (Reuters) -Taiwan's government raised its travel warning for China on Thursday, telling its citizens not to go unless absolutely necessary, following a threat from Beijing last week to execute those deemed "diehard" Taiwan independence supporters. Liang Wen-chieh, spokesperson for Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council, told reporters the raised travel warning also applied to the Chinese-run cities of Hong Kong and Macau. China, which views democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory, has made no secret of its dislike of President Lai Ching-te, whom it views as a "separatist", and staged two days of war games after he took office last month.
