2014: the year of the (booze) drone?

Next time you're on the beach in Argentina and you see ‘a flying bar managed by Twitter' coming towards you, don't panic: it isn't an alcohol-induced hallucination.

It is in fact ‘Air Brahma', which -- although it sounds like it should be a budget flight company -- is the latest trendy concept to hit the drinks industry.

The result of a collaboration between Brazilian-based Brahma Beer and advertising agency JWT, Air Brahma allows beach lovers to order their pint via social media using the Twitter hashtag #airbrahma. The refreshments are promptly delivered directly to consumers via drone.

Flying bars are becoming increasingly popular of late, with upmarket Las Vegas club Marquee recently offering clients the chance to have bottles of champagne delivered by drone, according to CNBC.

And it seems that the idea isn't just limited to drinks -- in May a pizza chain in Mumbai tested out the idea of a drone delivery service.

Online retail giant Amazon was one of the first to hit the headlines at the end of last year when it unveiled plans to incorporate the machines into its delivery program.
