The Met Gala, renowned as one of fashion world's most illustrious occasions, is quickly approaching, and excitement has kicked into high gear with the unveiling of the stacked roster of co-hosts.

Vogue announced on Thursday, via a very modern-day text chain Instagram post, that the 2024 Met Gala will be co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, who join Vogue’s Anna Wintour for the high-profile event. The star-studded red carpet event is held on the iconic steps of New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May.

Vogue also announced that the dress code for the 2024 Met Gala, which will be held on May 6, is “The Garden of Time," paying homage to the theme for Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion."

In a Vogue Instagram video revealing the co-hosts, Wintour, 74, writes in a group text, "Hello, Are you all free Monday, May 6th?" "Of course," Zendaya replies. "Anna! Sí," Bad Bunny writes. "Wouldn't miss supporting the museum," Lopez adds. "Checking schedule now," Hemsworth chimes in. "I can free up that day ;)"

For Hemsworth, 40, this will mark his debut appearance at the Met Gala. As for musician Bad Bunny, 29, it will be his third time making a splash on the museum's iconic steps. (Last year, he stunned in a white, backless Jacquemus suit complete with a white rosette shawl.)

Zendaya, too, is no stranger to making her mark on the Met steps. The 27-year-old actor made her Met Gala debut in 2015, donning a custom Fausto Puglisi sun-motif dress inspired by that year's theme, China: Through the Looking Glass.

This year's “The Garden of Time" dress code is bound to bring on romantic, whimsical and fairytale like fashions, which an emphasis on "moody florals" per Vogue's announcement.

It also plays into this year's theme: titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” the upcoming Costume Institute exhibit will feature approximately 250 items, including 15 significant pieces such as an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown, spanning over 400 years of history.

The walk-through will also include everything from a 17th-century English Elizabethan-era bodice to 21st-century works by modern-day fashion industry tastemakers including Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney, and Connor Ives. Additionally, it will showcase designs by legendary names in fashion, including Elsa Schiaparelli, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, and Hubert de Givenchy.

Many of the pieces will be exhibited alongside contemporary sartorial works, compartmentalized into a core exhibit and three additional zones — Land, Sea, and Sky — which, according to Andrew Bolton, curator in charge, “is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.”

Everything will be brought to life through the use of technology, from video animation, light projection, and AI. Nick Knight, founder of SHOWstudio, will serve as creative consultant on the visual presentation while Sissel Tolaas, who has worked with Balenciaga, will develop scents for the installations.

“This innovative show will push the boundaries of our imagination and invite us to experience many facets of a work, to learn more about its history, and, ultimately, to gain a deeper appreciation of its beauty," Max Hollein, the Met’s CEO, noted to Vogue.
