Montreal police say they arrested two men in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man.

The man died in hospital after he was stabbed early Saturday morning in Montreal's Sud-Ouest borough, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). Police confirmed on Sunday they arrested an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man who will appear in court.

Montreal police responded to a 911 call around 4:50 a.m. concerning the stabbing. The incident happened on St. Antoine Street near Rose-de-Lima Street and police say there were many witnesses.

"We know that there was a conflict but we don't know why the conflict began," says SPVM spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier.

The victim was transported to the hospital with stab wounds to his upper body but died later in the morning.
