Authorities in Georgia have arrested three people in connection with the death of a woman whose remains were found in January, several months after her disappearance.

Maury-Ange Faith Martinez, 20, was reported missing on Aug. 28, 2023 in Gwinnett County, Ga., according to the Cobb County Police Department. Months later, skeletal remains were found in January in Hamilton County, Tenn., and were later determined to be Martinez.

Allen Kerr, Sean Deschauzer and Jasmine Craig have since been charged in connection with Martinez’s death, 11 Alive, the Chattanooga Times Free Press and WSB Radio reported, citing police and jail records. They have each been charged with concealment of a death, per the outlets.

Martinez's mother, Anita Darling, told 11 Alive that she was about to pick up Martinez near a courthouse when she got a “strange” call from her daughter.

“She called me, and said she had caught a ride," Darling told the outlet. "I thought that it was somebody who worked at the facility.”

“It still seemed a little strange," Darling later added. "I got off the phone with her and felt uneasy about it.”

Martinez did not answer her mother’s texts after the call, which alarmed Darling, she said, per 11 Alive.

In a GoFundMe created to help fund a search for Martinez before her remains were found, her family alleged she had been “taken” to another location, where a “male ‘friend’” was planning to pick her up. Police did not confirm this information.
