40,000 new HDB flats expected in three areas

Some 40,000 new homes will be available when housing areas in Bidadari, Tampines North, and Punggol Matilda are fully completed.

Developments works for these areas have begun, HDB said in a statement.

Housing projects will be launched in Tampines North and Punggol Matilda in H2 2014, followed by Bidadari next year. Additionally, two Build-To-Order (BTO) projects in Punggol Matilda were launched in the September last year.

The development plans are tailored to bring out each estate's distinct character and history.

Bidadari

The proposed plans for Bidadari, which used to be a cemetery, will include greenery and nature via the 10-ha Bidadari Park and a central linear greenway.

The Market Square, a mixed public housing and commercial development, located next to the Woodleigh MRT station will be integrated with a bus interchange and community facilities.

The first housing parcel in Bidadari will be launched in 2015 in the Alkaff Neighbourhood.

Tampines North

Envisioned as an extension of Tampines Town, Tampines North will have four new housing districts; Park West District, Green Walk District, Park East District and Boulevard District.

The Tampines North commercial hub (pictured) will see a new mixed development integrated with a bus interchange.

Punggol Matilda

Punggol Matilda will feature the Waterfront Promenade, a community space for outdoor recreation and residents can also look forward to a waterfront shopping centre. A covered walkway will provide connectivity to the promenade.

HDB plans to launch another BTO project in Punggol Matilda in July 2014, offering more than 1,000 units of two to five-room flats. When fully developed, Punggol Matilda will be a waterfront home to about 28,000 residents in 8,000 flats.
