5 Reasons to watch "Ip Man 3"

Hong Kong action superstar Donnie Yen may have played different roles with varying degrees of success during his late-career resurgence since his pivotal comeback with 2005's "SPL", but many fans and general movie-goers have often associated Yen to his iconic role as the legendary Wing Chun master of the same name in "Ip Man".

After the success of the first two "Ip Man" movies, Yen has finally returned for one last time for the third instalment. Reunited with director Wilson Yip, "Ip Man 3" also features current in-demand martial arts actor Zhang Jin ("The Grandmaster", "SPL II: A Time For Consequences") and former heavyweight boxing legend-turned-actor, Mike Tyson.

Ever since "Ip Man 3" has been locked in for a Christmas Eve release date this year, there has been a considerable amount of anticipation surrounding the movie. Whether you are a fan of the "Ip Man" movies, Donnie Yen, or the martial arts genre, here are five reasons why you should watch "Ip Man 3"

1. Donnie Yen vs. Zhang Jin

Ever since Zhang Jin has proven his agility with his martial-art skill in Wong Kar-Wai's award-winning biopic, "The Grandmaster" in 2013, fans of his work will finally get their chance to watch him square off against Donnie Yen in "Ip Man 3". Expect a tense one-on-one fight scene between Donnie Yen and Zhang Jin, which is sure to be one of the most talked-about martial arts scenes of the year!

2. Donnie Yen vs. Mike Tyson

Here's another fight scene to look forward to; Donnie Yen versus Mike Tyson. Known for his lightning-fast powerful punches, it's finally nice to see Tyson utilise his professional skills to thrilling cinematic effect against the agile Donnie Yen.

3. Yuen Woo-Ping serves as action choreographer

Yuen Woo-Ping is no stranger to the martial arts genre. If his name is not familiar to you, he's actually responsible for some of the best action choreography in both Hong Kong and Hollywood movies, including "Once Upon A Time In China II" and "Iron Monkey" (where he worked with Donnie Yen in both movies), "Fist Of Legend", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Fearless", "The Grandmaster", "The Matrix" trilogy and "Kill Bill: Volume 1 & 2".

4. The Bruce Lee character is finally introduced

Yes, Bruce Lee was already introduced in the second "Ip Man" movie, but his scene was merely a brief cameo towards the end. This time, Bruce Lee will be featured prominently in the third movie, and the studio has definitely made the right choice picking Danny Chan to play the younger version of the late legendary martial-arts superstar. Danny Chan, is of course, best known for his supporting roles as the goalkeeper in "Shaolin Soccer" and the Axe Gang leader, Brother Sum in "Kung Fu Hustle".

5. Wing Chun vs. Muay Thai

This is the first time that we'll get to see Donnie Yen utilise his nifty Wing Chun skills against the hard-hitting Muay Thai fighter, Sarut Khanwilai. Khanwilai is also best known as Tony Jaa's stunt double in "Skin Trade".

"Ip Man 3" opens in cinemas nationwide on 24 December 2015.
