6 Brands of Fresh Spinach Recalled for Potential Listeria Contamination

Solata Foods LLC. is recalling six of its spinach brands sold in New York state because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The fresh spinach was sold in bags and clamshells at multiple local retailers in New York.

The contaminated spinach was sold under multiple brand names, including Bogopa, Farmer Direct, Full Circle, Gaia, Solata, and Uncle Vinny’s, and in a variety of sizes. However, all recalled spinach bears the same lot number of 40606 and 11006 and expiration dates between June 20, 2024, and June 24, 2024.

No illnesses have been reported, but if you have the spinach, you should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and potentially fatal infections—especially in those with weakened immune systems, children, and elderly people. Common symptoms include high fever, headache, stiffness, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. It can also lead to miscarriage or stillbirth if a pregnant individual becomes infected.
