7 bars where you can watch the World Cup matches

The FIFA World Cup begins on 14 June this year and as with every World Cup season, there will be plenty of public places for football fans to watch the action. Other than family-friendly places such as OCBC Square @ The Sports Hub, Safra, McDonald’s, Hollandse Club, Changi Airport and Tampines Hub, many bars in Singapore will be holding live telecasts of matches as well. Here are seven bars where you can catch all of the live World Cup action.

Propeller

Propeller will be screening World Cup matches starting from 14 June with drink promotions on offer. The rooftop bar’s bucket promotion allows customers to mix and match any five bottles for $50 and more. The drinks are Erdinger Weiss, Erdinger Dunkel, Kirin, Sol, Heineken and Somersby Apple Cider. Customers can also mix and match any five bottles of Craft beer bottles, which are Rye & Pint Punchin’ Rye (SG), Innis and Gunn Original (UK), Innis and Gunn Lager (UK) and Dunde Honey Brown (USA), for $60 and more. On Fridays and Saturdays, the bar will be screening the matches starting at 2am and its operating hours will be from 5pm to 4am.

The Penny Black

World Cup matches will be telecast live on The Penny Black’s massive flat screen for customers to revel in the action. The English pub will be having a World Cup promotion, where customers can mix and match any three vodka shots for $35 nett. The vodka drinks are Kettel One Original Vodka (Holland), Tonino Lamborghini Vodka (Italy), Dingle Vodka (Ireland) and Tito’s Vodka (USA). The Penny Black is also holding a World Cup predict-the-result contest where customers stand a chance to win prizes.

McGettigan’s

McGettigan’s will be broadcasting World Cup matches across its large screen televisions and giant projectors. The bar will also hold World-Cup themed games and parties, as well as offer promotions and deals daily.

Bar Bar Black Sheep

Bar Bar Black Sheep will be screening World Cup matches while providing full table service with no addition of service charge or tax to the bill. The bar offers affordable drinks as well as North Indian, Thai and Western cuisine.

1-Altitude

Screening the World Cup for the first time this year, 1-Altitude will be incorporating the tournament matches into its entertainment programme, which runs from 6pm to 4am during weekends.

Brewerkz

Brewerkz will kick off the World Cup season with a lucky draw giving customers a chance to win a one-year supply of Brewerkz premium craft beer. The bar will also be holding the Soccer Bingo, where the first person who takes part in the bingo game for each World Cup match will get a free jug. Brewerkz is offering a deal where customers can enjoy $2 off every jug each time a goal is scored, by making an order for a jug of beer before the end of the second half of a match. The bar also takes in private screening groups for the tournament broadcast.

Harry’s

Harry’s will be screening World Cup matches at selected outlets such as at Esplanade, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Chijmes. Russia vs Saudi Arabia, Argentina vs Iceland and England vs Belgium are just some of the matches that will be broadcast at the bar (check the schedule here). The bar will also be offering multiple food and drinks promotions throughout the World Cup season. These include purchasing two pints of the same drink for $20 onwards, purchasing a bottle of Hennessey XO at $480 onwards and receiving a complimentary bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold Label, and enjoying a bucket of five Budweiser bottles for $49++.
