9-1-1 adds The Vampire Diaries star to cast
9-1-1 has added The Vampire Diaries and The Flash star Rick Cosnett to the cast of season seven.
Despite an initial cancellation at FOX after its season six finale, the flagship programme was saved by a move to ABC for its upcoming seventh season, meaning it's full steam ahead – quite literally – for the show's return.
That includes, as reported by Deadline, some new additions to the cast; namely, The Vampire Diaries star Rick Cosnett, who starred as Dr Wes Maxfield on the show.

A recent trailer for season seven confirmed that the instalment will (at least partially) take place on a cruise ship that is boarded by terrorists – and Cosnett's character will reportedly play a charismatic cruise director named Julian Enes.
The premiere episode's official plot synopsis reads as follows: “Athena and Bobby (Angela Bassett and Peter Krause, respectively) set off on their honeymoon cruise, but when duty calls, their vacation is put on hold.
"Meanwhile, a fighter jet traps a civilian, and an unusual incident leaves a couple stuck together.”

9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear has teased several returning characters for season seven, including Ravi Panikkar (Anirudh Pisharody).
Speaking to TVLine, Minear said that the series will be "bringing back faces from even before Ravi" – and that the fan favourite character will "definitely be coming back".
He added: "We’re bringing back a couple on the cruise ship that you’ll recognise from a previous episode. We like to go back to the fridge and see what the leftovers are and what we can make."
9-1-1 season 7 premieres on ABC on March 14.
