First up, we have Lisa Fowler's return, which has been confirmed to kick off from Monday, July 10.

Lucy Benjamin has reprised her role as Lisa for a short stint, which will see her head back to Walford with her granddaughter Peggy.

Lisa and Peggy's comeback will kick off a game-changing time for Keanu as he vows to reconnect with his daughter, only to be met by some obstacles along the way.

And, as always, expect some further twists in regards to Lisa's own motives as well.

Fans already have their theories about why Freddie's former teacher Theo Hawthorne is determined to infiltrate himself into the Slater family, but are they correct?

Upcoming scenes will see Martin get on board with those viewer suspicions too, as he makes some unsettling discoveries about the newcomer – who is spending an increasing amount of time with school girl Lily.

Stacey is determined to defend Theo, for now, but the truth will soon be unveiled as part of a summer of drama the Slater family.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw recently teased: "We've got a big Slater summer with Theo and what his true intentions are... which will be revealed."

3. Martin and Stacey revisited

Speaking of Stacey and Martin, it's looking like their former on-off-on-again romance will be revisited over the coming months, as they grow closer in the lead-up to Lily giving birth.

Scenes airing in July will see Stacey contemplate a reunion with Martin, after going on a date with Theo.

But is there a way back for them now?

4. Freddie learns the truth

Freddie is another member of the Slater family who has a life-changing few months ahead.

Freddie arrived in Walford last year hellbent on getting to know his biological father, who he initially believed was his mum's ex-husband Billy.

He eventually learned this was not the case and the story hasn't been touched on since then, but Freddie's world is about to be turned upside down by the full truth about his paternity.

Long-term fans will know that Freddie was conceived after Little Mo was raped by evil Graham Foster back in 2003, and he was eventually sentenced to jail a year later.

Chris said: "Freddie will finally find out the truth about his dad." But what will it mean for him? And could this lead to the much-anticipated Little Mo return as well?

5. Alfie's new story

He's had a quieter few months on screen lately but that's all about to change as there's a new story in the pipeline for Alfie as well.

Alfie's happy-go-lucky nature will be tested when he is hit by hard times later in this year, and he might find himself struggling to charm his way out of this one.

"There's gonna be quite a tough road ahead for Alfie," Chris teased.

6. Kathy and Rocky's wedding – featuring a surprise guest

Hats at the ready as Kathy and Rocky are set to wed in the coming weeks.

It's not been the easiest of rides for the pair so far, but Kathy is hopeful for a happy-ever-after with Rocky as they head towards their big day in July.

With Bobby determined to make her wedding wishlist come true, fans should brace themselves for a couple of twists – and an unexpected guest.

Chris said: "We've got Rocky and Kathy's nuptials, which has an unexpected guest arrive." But is it 0ne of the Beales, or someone else? Speaking of which…

7. The Beale family returns

It was the biggest EastEnders twist we've had in years but Cindy Beale is alive, well, and back with her ex-husband Ian. She is also the mysterious missing wife of George Knight, and the mother to his daughters Anna and Gina.

Michelle Collins has reprised her role as Cindy, alongside Adam Woodyatt (Ian) and Thomas Law, who previously played their son Peter as a youngster.

The clan are living in France at the moment but will head back to Walford later in the year, with bosses hinting that it won't be long before Cindy returns to form.

"Cindy is a little softer through everything that has gone on," Chris said. "But what becomes quite apparent later in the year when she returns to Walford is it doesn't take long before we see flashes of the old Cindy Beale and she still has it.

"There is some absolute dynamite between Cindy and Kathy. It doesn't take long and it's still the same Cindy at the core – she's just been on one hell of a journey since we last saw her."

8. A flashforward clue

Kathy and Rocky's wedding guests shouldn't be the only thing that fans are keeping an eye on during that time, though, as their nuptials are set to feature a major clue to that flashforward scene.

Back in February, EastEnders gave us a glimpse into this year's Christmas episodes, which saw Sharon, Linda, Stacey, Suki, Kathy and Denise standing over the dead body of an unseen man – wearing cufflinks.

When speaking about Kathy and Rocky's wedding, Chris said: "Watch out for the cufflinks around those episodes. So keep your eyes peeled."

Navin Chowdhry – who plays Nish – also recently dropped a big clue pointing towards the victim of the Christmas death.

"I am aware that Nish is the number one contender to die at Christmas," he told The Mirror. "I think the main clue is to follow the cufflinks. There's some stuff we filmed recently about the cufflinks so look out for that and follow the cufflinks."

9. Kim's new struggle

Kim's story will continue to be explored over the coming weeks, as she adjusts to life after prison.

A devastating turn of events at Kim's upcoming court case will see her jailed for a short while, and when she returns home, it's clear that she's desperately unwell.

Despite her family's best attempts to welcome her back, Kim becomes increasingly overwhelmed and her later return to work doesn’t go as planned, either. Will Kim be able to get the support she needs?

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
