A30 in Cornwall reopens after four-year upgrade

A stretch of the A30 in Cornwall which has been closed for four years while it was upgraded has reopened.

Construction work for the £330m dual carriageway upgrade project between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross roundabouts began in 2020.

In February, the project - which was due to be completed in March 2024 - had its end date pushed back three months.

National Highways said there was still work to do on local roads to complete the project, meaning more roads would be closed in the next few weeks.

The organisation said in order to complete the work before the school summer holidays, it would be implementing some local road closures until 12 July.

It said the reason for the delay was due to "significant challenges" the project had faced around bad weather and construction issues.
