Commonwealth Games gold-medallists Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah also advanced into the next round, after a 21-16, 21-14 victory over Thailand's Supissara Paewsampran and Puttita Supajirakul on Tuesday.

The women's doubles pair will next play China's top-seeded duo Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan.
