After 5-star drips, Honkai Star Rail reveals new upcoming 4-star character Luka

Luka will be a Physical Nihility character, and we expect his kit to be geared towards being a DPS that deals Physical damage-over-time

Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse has unveiled an all-new playable character in Luka!

HoYoverse posted Luka’s teaser on Thursday (25 May), showing he will be a 4-star character that wields the Physical element and follows the Path of Nihility.

Luka is expected to be released in version 1.2 as one of the rate-up 4-star characters alongside featured 5-stars Kafka and Blade, who were drip-marketed in the days leading up to his reveal.

Luka resides in Belobog’s Underworld and is a member of Wildfire. However, he is most known as a star boxer in the Boulder Town Fight Club, recognizable by his mechanical right arm.

Despite his reputation as a fighter, Luka remains kind-hearted and focused on helping the citizens of Belobog’s Underworld.

“From the boxing ring to the battlefield, or from a boxer to a fighter, Luka uses his power to protect the citizens of the Underworld. After having gone through despair and hardships himself, he is more eager to bring hope unto others,” Luka’s teaser read.

Not much is known about Luka outside of what HoYoverse has officially revealed. While he has yet to appear in-game, he does show up in an already released Light Cone as well as in promotional material.

Luka is the featured character of the Light Cone ‘Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat’, which seems to be his signature.

This Light Cone has a DEF main stat and passively inflicts attacked enemies with the Ensnared debuff, which reduces their DEF. Since HoYoverse has already revealed Luka as a Physical Nihility character, we expect his kit to be geared towards being a DPS focused on dealing Physical damage-over-time.

Aside from the aforementioned Light Cone, Luka also made a brief appearance in the game’s ‘Interstellar Journey’ release trailer.

When will Luka be released?

Judging by the proximity of Luka's reveal to the drip marketing for Kafka and Blade, we can probably assume that he will be one of the 4-stars running alongside them.

Given that Luka is a Nihility character, we can also make a guess that he will be on the banner of fellow Nihility character Kafka.

Luka as well as Kafka and Blade are expected to be released in Honkai: Star Rail version 1.2. The reason why we assume they won't be in the upcoming version 1.1 is because it is already expected that Silver Wolf, Luocha, and Yukong will be the ones coming in version 1.1.

The thumbnail for the upcoming version 1.1 preview livestream shows the chibis for three known upcoming characters: Silver Wolf, Yukong, and Luocha, with Luka, Kafka, and Blade nowhere to be seen.

Honkai: Star Rail version 1.1 is expected to release on 6 June, and assuming it will last the usual 40 days, version 1.2 as well as Luka, Kafka, and Blade will be released in mid-July.

Honkai: Star Rail is currently in the second half of version 1.0, featuring the Lightning Erudition character Jing Yuan as the banner 5-star.

Honkai: Star Rail officially launched on 26 April on PC, Android, and iOS. The game will also be made available on PlayStation some time after release. You can download the game here.
