:: Geneva, Switzerland

:: Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General, International Telecommunication Union:

"It's the risks of artificial intelligence that keep us all awake at night. So much has been said about AI governance in the media, in academic circles, from Start-Ups to tech giants, from local governments, all the way to the United Nations, which recently adopted a historic resolution that recognized AI potential to advance the SDGs. But ladies and gentlemen, at the heart of all of this is a conundrum. How do we govern a technology? How do we govern technologies if we don't yet know their full potential?"

:: "Right now, the power of AI is concentrated in the hands of a few too many. It is risky, and it is ethically precarious to be in this kind of position for humanity."

The organizers of AI for Good, where delegates from all over the world will discuss how to maximize the benefits of AI, and control the risks, are seeking to make the case for artificial intelligence to help resolve some of the world's biggest challenges such as climate change, disease and hunger.
