Air defense forces shot down five missiles and 24 Shahed drones out of 30 aerial targets launched by Russia against Ukraine overnight on June 12, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk reported on Telegram.

Russia launched an air-missile attack on Ukraine, using air and ground-based missiles, as well as Shahed kamikaze drones.

30 aerial targets in total were launched against Ukraine:

  • four Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (launched from Saratov Oblast, Russia)

  • Iskander-M ballistic missile (launched from temporarily occupied Crimea)

  • Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile (launched from Tambov Oblast, Russia)

  • 24 attack UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type (launched from Russia's cities of Yeisk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk).

Air Force anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare equipment were involved in repelling the enemy attack, as a result of which 29 aerial targets were destroyed:

Air defense operated in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Poltava, Kharkiv and Vinnytsia oblasts.

Russian mass attack on June 12

Russia sent a mass missile and drone attack primarily directed at Kyiv using Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers and Shahed drones overnight on June 12.

One person was injured in Kyiv Oblast in a Russian attack. Fires broke out at two facilities.
