"Of course, like all modern aircraft, the Mirage 2000 can effectively perform various types of combat missions, including air and ground strikes. While this aircraft is quite modern, the F-16 remains a priority for us," he said.

Ukraine currently relies on the F-16 as its "main plane" and expects it to arrive soon, the spokesman noted.

"We are also waiting for missiles for it, as this aircraft is now the main one and will be able to effectively perform combat tasks. In the near future, we do not exclude the supply of other aircraft of various systems that can be transferred to Ukraine," said Yevlash.

In March 2023, the French internet portal Intelligence Online reported that Ukraine hopes to receive at least 40 Mirage 2000-9 fighters. Possible suppliers include the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Greece.

In September 2023, former Air Force Command spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said the French Mirage 2000 fighters were not suitable for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, calling the Mirage 2000 an outdated model and noting that France had much better aircraft.

The Mirage 2000 is a French multi-role fighter developed by Dassault Aviation in the 1970s. It was the main combat aircraft of the French Air Force in the late 20th and early 21st centuries and has been adopted by the armies of several countries in Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
