AKB48 cafe in Singapore.

27 June – Japan group AKB48 had recently opened their very own themed café along Orchard road in Singapore, the first overseas base for the group, according to a report from Asia One website.

The café has been furnished to mirror the original Akihabara theatre located in the heart of Tokyo. It combines the Theatre "Live" Series concerts and Singapore Official Store at SCAPE.

Although the café is only set to officially open its doors next month, the soft launch on Saturday saw three of AKB48's members, Maria Abe, Haruka Shimazaki and Miyu Takeuchi, where they met with fans and gave out souvenirs.

It is said that patrons can expect more to come, aside from the exclusive AKB48 video screening and the Japanese fusion menu that is currently being offered, there will be a full menu which will include over 70 dishes and drinks which has yet to be launched.

Currently, three set menus for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner are available which will be featuring main courses such as Omu Curry Rice and Japone Pasta and desserts like fruit parfaits and waffles with ice cream.

Future plans for the café are already in works, which includes having "featured personality" dishes, made from recipes contributed by AKB48 members.

Fans will also be delighted to know that members of the group are expected to make special appearances on stage, have meals at the cafe or greet fans from time to time.
