Aldi Recalls Bakery Items Sold Nationwide for Undeclared Allergen

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that FGF Brands Inc. (FGF) of Toronto, Ontario, is recalling 11,830 cases of muffins made for Aldi. Packaged as "Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffins" (4 count), the product may contain undeclared walnuts, creating a possible serious or life-threatening allergic reaction in those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts. The muffins were distributed to Aldi markets nationwide. To date, no illnesses or adverse effects have been reported.
FGF initiated the recall after discovering that the muffins were packaged incorrectly. Production of the muffins has been suspended until the FDA and FGF are certain the problem has been corrected.
How To Identify the Recalled Aldi Chocolate Chip Muffins
The recalled muffins are packaged in a clear 4-pack clamshell with a red product label under the brand name Bake Shop Bakery. They are marked with lot # NF1 142Y on the top and UPC on the label 4099100048278. A photo of the packaging is on the FDA’s recall page.
