Alisson injury: Brazil boss confirms Liverpool star will miss around a month of action
Liverpool are set be without Alisson for at least a month after the Brazil manager confirmed the goalkeeper will miss their fixtures in March.
Alisson missed Saturday’s 4-1 win over Brentford with a hamstring injury and Caoimhin Kelleher is set to play against Luton and then in the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp said on Tuesday that Liverpool were still assessing how long Alisson would be out but Brazil coach Dorival Junior says he will miss their March games against England and Spain.
That would be a major blow to Liverpool’s title chances as Alisson will miss games against Luton, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Everton.
In an interview with TNT Sports Brasil, the Brazil head coach said Alisson, Neymar and Matheus Cunha would all miss the March games.
“In terms of possible call-ups, all the names mentioned are important players and have some prominence in their teams”, he said.
“They would indeed be on a pre-list. In particular, some players who had slightly more serious injuries, such as Alisson, Matheus Cunha, Joao Pedro and even Neymar, are totally removed from any possibility at this moment.
“Not that we were already defined by the name of one or the other. In this extensive list we have, some of these would no longer allow us to be called up at this moment.”
