EXCLUSIVE: Amazon has greenlighted a documentary on the life of NBA legend Allen Iverson from Shaquille O’Neal’s Jersey Legends, a division of Authentic Studios, and Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media.

Directed by One9, the film looks at the way in which Iverson’s authentic voice and unapologetic expression of style paved the way for future generations and revolutionized the culture of the NBA. From his origins in Hampton, VA, to his ascent as one of the most tenacious and exhilarating basketball players of all time, Iverson fearlessly embraced his individuality both on and off the court.

His personality and fierce competitive spirit endeared him to fans, teammates, and opposing players alike. Now, through unprecedented access and personal stories, along with interviews with family, friends, and fellow NBA players and coaches, Iverson shares a more reflective side of his present-day self, as he realizes his cultural impact long after his playing days have come to an end.

“Allen was a pioneer in the world of sports and entertainment,” observed Jersey Legends’ O’Neal. “His cultural impact was bigger than basketball and this documentary sets out to properly define his legacy.”

Stated Curry and Erick Peyton of Unanimous Media, “We’re excited to join forces with Prime Video and Shaquille O’Neal and Jersey Legends to tell the incredible story of Allen Iverson, a revolutionary figure with deep influence on and off the court. This project provides us the opportunity to pull back the curtains on Iverson’s storied career, legacy and impact through meaningful storytelling that will appeal to audiences worldwide.”

Iverson added, “I’m ready to tell my story my way, authentic and unapologetically. I look forward to people seeing a side of me they haven’t seen before.”

Selected as the first overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1996 NBA Draft, and being named NBA Rookie of the Year after shining during his time at Georgetown University, Iverson over the course of his 14-season career notched accolades including Most Valuable Player of the NBA’s 2000-2001 season. An 11-time All-Star selection, as well as a four-time scoring champion and three-time steals leader, he returned to the 76ers for his final year in the NBA following time with the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

Presented by Prime Video Sports, the untitled documentary on Iverson is produced by Jersey Legends (a division of Authentic Studios) and Unanimous Media. O’Neal, Curry, Peyton, Colin Smeeton, Mike Parris, and One9 serve as executive producers on the pic, set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
