Anna Faris Surprises Her Best Friend with a Heartwarming Renovation: ‘She Took Me Under Her Wing’ (Exclusive)

The actress is the latest star to give a loved one a new home makeover on 'Celebrity IOU'

Anna Faris is teaming up with Drew and Jonathan Scott for something special!

On Monday's upcoming episode of Celebrity IOU, the actress, 47, works with the Property Brothers stars to give her best friend of 24 years, Amanda, the surprise of a lifetime by renovating her kitchen and dining room. Faris chose her best friend for the honor being that they have leaned on each other through some of the most challenging times.

In PEOPLE's exclusive first look of the episode, Faris is seen helping tear apart the kitchen's old cabinets with a hammer.

"You know what I do for a living? I say other people's words, and I make faces," she jokes during the process. The Overboard star then shows off her acting chops by saying, "We need to get this gable out of here to demo all the cabinets," in a worried and emotional tone.

Of working with Faris, Drew, 45, told PEOPLE that she was fully involved in the project.

"I had to be away from the project a little bit, and she jumped in extra days and was filling in for me not being there, and no complaints, no worries. She was showing up before Jonathan would even get to site, which is kind of funny," he says.

Celebrities who have stepped in Anna's shoes to surprise a loved one include Heidi Klum, Jay Leno, Derek Hough, Julianne Hough, Taraji P. Henson, and Emma Roberts.

Before the premiere of the latest season, Jonathan, 45, said in a news release statement that getting to help celebrities transform their loved ones homes is "so moving."

"The celebrities we partner with are incredibly genuine — they really want to do something kind for the people who have given so much to them and others. Their dedication to these special renovations is so moving, and I think that's why we all ugly cry at every episode," his statement read.

Celebrity IOU's new episode premieres Jan. 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV.
