Anna Paquin Uses Cane on Red Carpet After ‘Difficult’ Two Years With Health Issue That Affected Her Mobility: ‘It Hasn’t Been Easy’
Anna Paquin stepped onto a red carpet for the first time in well over a year to promote her latest movie, “A Bit of Light,” directed by her husband and “True Bood” co-star Stephen Moyer. The Oscar winner used a cane at the event to help her walk and disclosed to People that she’s had a “difficult” two years dealing with an undisclosed health issue that left her with mobility issues.
“It hasn’t been easy,” Paquin told the publication of needing a cane to walk.

Paquin also told People that her health issue resulted in her experiencing some difficulties with her speech. A sourced added that Paquin will hopefully make a full recovery. The specifics of the actor’s health issue have not been disclosed.
In her new film “A Bit of Light,” Paquin plays a down-on-her-luck mother who is forced to move in with her father (Ray Winstone) after she loses custody of her children to her ex-husband and his new partner. The supporting cast includes Youssef Kerkour, Pippa Bennett-Warner and Luca Hogan.
“My first love was independent filmmaking,” Paquin said. “That’s how I entered the film industry. I was working with people who were all about telling stories and telling them with integrity and truth.”
Paquin added that husband Moyer is “my favorite person to play with,” and she only agreed to star in the movie because she think he’s a good director, adding: “I’m not sentimental when it comes to work.”
“A Bit of Light ” opens in theaters Friday, April 5, from Quiver.
