U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin welcomed Argentina as the newest member of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group during its 23rd meeting on June 13, according to Ukrinform news agency.

Argentina's Defense Minister, Luis Petri, represented the country in the group, which includes over 50 nations, spanning NATO and EU members as well as several countries from Africa, Asia, and South America.

The meeting, held in Brussels, aimed to bolster Ukraine’s air defense systems, a critical need amid ongoing conflicts. Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh emphasized the importance of the support, noting, "This is what they need — whether it will be Patriot systems or other resources."
