Ariana Grande Hits High Notes in Looks by Balmain and Mugler for ‘Jimmy Fallon’ Appearance, Performs ‘The Boy Is Mine’

Ariana Grande’s appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday featured two distinct looks from the singer. Grande discussed her audition process for “Wicked,” her latest studio album “Eternal Sunshine” and performed the newest single from the album during her appearance.

For her interview look with the eponymous host of the late-night show, Grande favored a black dress from Balmain’s spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The restructured look featured short sleeves and a hemline above Grande’s knees.
The black dress also featured a rose motif, with the small white appliqués on the bodice and single roses on the skirt. Grande paired the look with white, pointed-toe heels and wore a pair of sheer black tights to complete her ensemble.
When it came to her performance look, however, Grande opted for a different designer. The singer fashioned a selection from Mugler’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection.
The dress featured sculptural elements, with the fabric adorning Grande’s shoulders in a structural style. The hemline of the dress landed inches above Grande’s knees. She accessorized with a mask that had cat ears. The singer performed her newest single, “The Boy Is Mine,” off of her album “Eternal Sunshine” while wearing the look.
Both of Grande’s ensembles for her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” were curated by stylist Mimi Cuttrell, who’s also worked with Gigi Hadid and Maude Apatow, among other famous clients.
While Grande’s appearance and musical performance on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show” promoted her newest song, the singer is also readying for the upcoming promotional tour for the film adaptation of “Wicked.”
Grande already demonstrated her proclivity for method dressing, paying homage to her character Glinda during her appearance at CinemaCon last April alongside costar Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the forthcoming film. While Grande fashioned darker looks for her “Tonight Show” appearance, she may trade black for pink in the months ahead.
