Arrest after man found with head injury in street

A man has been arrested after another man was found with a head injury in a street.

Cumbria police said a 42-year-old was held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm on Monday evening and remains in custody.

The injured man, who was found on Midtown Close in Distington, near Whitehaven, was taken to West Cumberland Hospital for treatment. He was later discharged.

Police were called at about 19:05 BST and a cordon was in place until about midnight, while officers carried out inquiries.
