Artists Equity, Chris Hemsworth’s Wild State Set Scripted Partnership

After landing multiple Golden Globe nominations for its debut feature Air, the artist-led studio Artists Equity, founded by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital Partners, has announced a new strategic partnership with Chris Hemsworth and Wild State, the burgeoning production company founded by Hemsworth and longtime producing partner Ben Grayson.

The partnership will see Wild State collaborate with Artists Equity on its scripted projects for film and TV, as Hemsworth’s banner continues its separate partnership with National Geographic for unscripted projects.

Said Artists Equity’s Co-Founder and CEO, Affleck, “We are excited to formally announce our deal with Chris, Ben, and his team at Wild State. This strategic partnership embodies the core foundation upon which Artists Equity was built – creator empowerment and ownership. We look forward to collaborating with Wild State as we expand our reach in storytelling.”

Added Wild State’s Hemsworth and Grayson, “As long-time fans of Affleck and Damon, the idea that we could join forces with them on select projects is something special. What they and the team at Artists Equity have already accomplished via their knowledge, talent, and unique approach to filmmaking is staggering and are perfect partners for what we are building at Wild State.”

Affleck and Damon launched their independently capitalized company, Artists Equity in partnership with RedBird Capital Partners in November 2022. The company is known for a financial model providing performance-based incentives to creators and crew, as just one means of establishing a creative-friendly environment. Its first film, the Affleck-helmed sports marketing pic Air starring Affleck and Damon, hit theaters worldwide in April via Amazon MGM, this morning scoring a Golden Globe nom for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, along with one for Damon’s performance. Among Artists Equity’s other upcoming projects is the Doug Liman-helmed The Instigators starring Damon and Casey Affleck, in partnership with Apple Original Films.

Notable projects for Wild State, since its September 2022 launch, include Netflix chart-topper Extraction II — the Hemsworth-led sequel to his 2020 action hit, from the Russo brothers’ AGBO — as well as a recently announced third installment in that franchise and the Disney+ docuseries Limitless created by Darren Aronofsky. Other past collaborations between Hemsworth and Grayson include the first Extraction and the Disney+ doc Shark Beach.

Hemsworth is repped by CAA and Greenberg Glusker; Grayson by CAA and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum.
