Asda reveals that its new Rosé Prosecco is nearly here
The Italian Minister of Agriculture approved the production of Rosé Prosecco in May and we've been eagerly anticipating it's arrival ever since. Now, that feels a little closer as Asda has announced that its Rosé Prosecco is almost here!
Just like Champagne, there are strict regulations around what can officially be given the name 'Prosecco'. So, while we've been enjoying sparkling Rosé, pink Prosecco has never before been made, as it wasn't permitted within the regulations. Until this year...
Sean Aitken, Wine Buying Manager at Asda, comments in the press release: "After getting the production green light from Italian Minister of Agriculture, we’ve been working closely with suppliers to ensure that Asda is one of the first retailers to bring the new pink variety to the UK."
Sharing the news on National Prosecco Day (13 August), the supermarket announced the exciting Filippo Prosecco Rosé, made with 10% of Pinot Noir added to the Glera blend. It described the highly anticipated wine as "fresh with delicate floral notes and soft strawberry and raspberry fruit flavours".
Aitkin said of the new tipple: "It’s the ultimate hybrid of two of the nation’s favourite tipples – rosé and Prosecco – and we’re excited to know that our customers will be able get their hands on the new product as soon as it launches.”
We don't know exactly when you'll be able to get your hands on it but some time in the next few months you'll finally be able to sip on delicious chilled Pink Prosecco!
Once launched, Asda customers will be able to purchase the new 75cl Filippo Prosecco Rosé online and in stores across the UK.
