Ashley Judd Calls Sister Wynonna Her "Protector" in Emotional Birthday Tribute
Wynonna Judd celebrated a milestone birthday this week, and she received an outpouring of support from friends and fans. But perhaps none were as meaningful as the video message recorded by her sister, Ashley. As daughters of the late country star Naomi Judd, the two sisters have been through tremendous ups and downs together. Ashley's personal message honors their close bond.
Ashley says, "Today is an auspicious day. It is my big sister's 60th birthday. To y'all she's the G.O.A.T., the Greatest of All Time. To me, she's the one with whom I compared mosquito bites, checked our tans in Mama and Papa's basement, and caught crawdads in the creek in Aunt Pauline and Uncle Landon's farm in Lawrence County, Kentucky."
She continues, "She was my protector when there was that earthquake when we lived in West Hollywood, and the one with whom I walked through many difficult trials and tribulations: loneliness, poverty, some food insecurity. And here we are, with the extraordinary lives that we have today.
"My big sister is one hell of a woman. She's a grandmother, and can you imagine growing up in the house with that voice?...To y'all, she's a legend. To me, she's sister. So happy birthday. I love you. Holding your hand is my sweet, safe place. I'm always beside you."
Then Ashley is overcome with laughter as she finally says, "Love, your honey bunny."
Wynonna responded in the comments with, "Crying. I love you."
The comments section is filled with loving messages for the sister. Rosie O'Donnell wrote, "beautiful ashley - just beautiful" and Rosanna Arquette said, "🙌👏👏👏👏 happy birthday 🙌to your beautiful sister"
One fan wrote, "This is just so endearing… you're everything right in this world." And another commenter said, "It was the laughter at the end for me! 😂So cute!"
