Audience question prompts gasps at BBC leaders debate

During the leaders BBC debate on 26 June, Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer were asked an audience question that caused the crowd to gasp and burst into applause.

After calling the current prime minister “pretty mediocre” and accusing the other candidate of being a puppet, Robert Blackstock asked, “Are you two really the best we’ve got?”

The crowd was immediately animated.

However, when interviewed after the debate, Blackstock said the two candidates did not provide sufficient enough answers on why they are good enough for the job.
