Aussie driver's frightening freeway stunt sparks outrage
'Do everyone a favour before he kills someone.'
A P-plater who was seeing red after being cut off twice by a LandCruiser is being urged to share his dashcam footage with police before the driver “kills someone”.
The teenager, who was behind the wheel of a Holden Commodore SV6, said he was heading to a final maths exam for Year 12 just when the incident happened just after 11.30am on Wednesday on the Gold Coast.
In the video shared online on Thursday, the student can be seen entering the intersection before the M1 on-ramp at Oxenford. While sitting in the left lane and preparing to turn right onto the motorway, the teen is forced to move into the right lane when the LandCruiser, pulling a long trailer, crosses four lanes of traffic to get ahead of him.
Crossing the intersection, and passing the LandCruiser and a white ute in front of it, the P-plater then moves onto the northbound on-ramp leading to the M1, still in the right lane.
However, just before the left lane merges into the right, the teen’s vehicle can be seen moving slightly into the hard shoulder on the right as the LandCruiser suddenly appears to the left. With seconds to spare before the left lane disappears entirely and the driver runs out of road, they move in front of the Commodore.
“Always the house deposit on wheels,” the teenager wrote on Reddit, referring to the cost of the LandCruiser, which others later called called a “$100,000 sh*tbox”.
“I would rather be behind this mother f***er than him ride my a** for God knows how long.”
Social media outrage
Since posting the 35-second clip online, the video has racked up more than 200 comments and 650 reactions.
“So this absolute jacka*** cuts you off, then he somehow manages to get around that other ute in his way just to get in front of you again?” one person wrote.
“I wonder if this legend is expecting a medal for his talent?” another asked, while someone else suggested “this bloke is very important and has very important tradie things to do”.
Others urged the P-plater to report the incident to police. In Queensland, drivers are encouraged to dob in a hoon by posting dashcam footage to a Policelink online portal.
“Do everyone a favour before he kills someone,” one person said.
While others criticised the teenager for leaving too wide a gap between them and the car in front as they pulled onto the M1 on-ramp, and for not going fast enough.

“The problem here is you were too far from the SUV at the merge point,” someone wrote. “Always tailgate and there wouldn’t have been room for him to get back past you.”
“I thought about it,” the teen replied, “but I wasn't trying to have someone ride my a** the whole way to my QCAA math exam otherwise I’d of had a nervous breakdown.”
