Australian police have arrested a 31-year-old Singaporean man for allegedly assaulting a 20-year-old woman in Brisbane.

Early information indicated that the man hit the woman on the head with a hammer while at a residence in Norman Park, a Brisbane suburb, on Monday (8 May, Brisbane time) night, said a Queensland Police Service news release.

The man also allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times in her upper body with a knife and fled the scene on foot, wearing only a white T-shirt and boxer shorts. An image of the suspect was released by the police amid the manhunt for him.

The victim was transported to the Prince Alexandra Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in the same suburb following a manhunt, according to an ABC News report. The pair had met online a few months ago and the woman had gone over to the man’s rented Airbnb apartment.

Neither the suspect nor the victim were named in the police release and news reports.
