Ayo Edebiri is quickly proving herself to be one to watch—not just as a mega-talented actress, but also as a girlie with a keen eye for fashion. With both Inside Out 2 and season 3 of The Bear fast approaching, the actress is on the verge achieving of Hollywood It Girl status—and she has been serving looks that do not disappoint.

Just take her most recent appearance on Good Morning America. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Margot Robbie, Elle Fanning, and Kate Bosworth, Edebiri rocked one of the summer's coolest trends: the waistcoat. She paired the Y2K top with a pair of super baggy khaki cargo pants that ballooned around her thighs (both Loewe Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear). She elevated the grungey look with a sleek black leather clutch, a pair of black square-toed flats, oversized black sunglasses, and a pair of pearl drop earrings. Her hair, which she wore in tight, voluminous curls and a center part, was reminiscent of old-Hollywood glamour.

Edebiri joined Maya Hawke on the talk show to chat about their upcoming film, Inside Out 2, in which Edebiri voices "Envy" and Hawke voices "Anxiety." During the appearance, Edebiri revealed that, while she might look like the perfect picture of a Hollywood It Girl, her mom has managed to keep her humble.

"My mom is always calling and just being like, 'There's always a room for you in the house,'" she laughed.

Edebiri also spoke about her experience working on The Bear's upcoming third season, in which she makes her directorial debut with one episode. "It was a really fun challenge," she said. "A really amazing way to collaborate with people from a different vantage point."

As Edebiri continues her rise in Hollywood, it's likely she'll solidify her place as one of the industry's fashion icons. "My stylist Sophie Cox is such a G, she knows I like to wear clothes that are sustainably made and by designers that are people of color," she said to Elle earlier this year, citing menswear designer Grace Wales Bonner as a favorite. "I wore one of her suits recently and I was so happy about it. I think what she's doing in womenswear and menswear is awesome," she went on. "I love Sandy Liang; she's a New York girl. I adore Shushu/Tong, Martine Rose, and Thom Browne."

Like all innovators in the fashion space, her approach is both purposeful and playful, filled unexpected combinations and silhouettes—her waistcoat, cargo pants, and pearl earrings combo is a prime example. As she put it, "Playing with masculine silhouettes and subverting the expectations of womenswear is so much fun."
